Community Consultation Event 9th January 2013 Ouston Community Centre 7.15pm

An Invitation from: Ouston and Urpeth Conservation Volunteers (OUCV)

OUCV are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Awards for All Lottery Fund. With the grant we plan to run a series of projects over the next year and also hope to hold an Environment Event to promote our group and the local environment and to gauge what people see as issues in the area.

To help us decide on a programme of activities we are holding a Community Consultation meeting in January, inviting residents from both villages and asking what sort of activities might interest them.

WE THEREFORE CORDIALLY INVITE YOU to come along to Ouston Community Centre on at 7.15pm on Wednesday 9th January 2013 for our Community Consultation Event. We appreciate that it could be a chilly and/or wet night so tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be provided. Please come along and share your ideas with us.

OUCV seeks to improve the countryside around the villages and over the last six years we have successfully run projects with schools and carried out practical conservation tasks. Over recent years however we have experienced a drop in membership numbers as volunteers have retired, moved out of the area, or gone away to university. With such reduced numbers we have found it difficult to run regular events that would enable interested people to ‘pop along and join in’.

Although we have achieved a considerable amount with just a few members we are now looking to increase our numbers to make the group viable and sustainable. We hope the Lottery Grant will enable us to organise activities that will encourage more Ouston and Urpeth residents to join us.

If anyone would like further information, or is interested in our work, please contact us either through our website or on 0191 4102578.
